John Douglas, a speaker in the University Speaker Series, inspired the character Jack Crawford in "Silence of the Lambs." He was originally slated to play the role but the FBI told him 'no'.He was one of the men who ushered in criminal profiling, said Mark Edwards, chair of the speaker series.
